BACK RIVER RESTORATION COMMITTEE, INC.

BOOM STATS

Detailed below is the amount of debris in TONS that the Herring Run Boom has 'caught' on the dates indicated.  The debris is removed by a team of dedicated employees who separate the debris into containers that are provided by Baltimore County.  Once the containers are full,  Baltimore County weighs the containers to determine the amount of debris that has been captured by the boom and then replaces the containers with empty ones.  The boom is a significant strategy for reducing the debris, both wood and trash & organics, that reaches Back River and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay.  Special circumstances that affect the amount of debris collected are indicated in the "Notes" section such as heavy rainfall.
